Hi there,

Hope you are well and keeping busy enjoying your life wherever you are reading from.
Thank you for visiting my blog, Larasstory

I am Lara Lain!
Proudly from Pembroke a small (one way street!) town in West Wales, UK.

My Mum brought me up in Pembrokeshire as a single parent – she is my ultimate hero.

Larasstory (the blog!) has been published since March 2015. I’ve been writing online since 2010.

Over the years I have shared all sorts including; travel, fitness, career, relationships, big life hurdles plus many motivational & inspirational tips for living better days.

I’ve worked for the world’s biggest publishing houses in London and scouted the globe as a solo female traveller.

During my travels I lived (& worked) in Koh Phi Phi, Thailand – Queenstown, New Zealand and Salvador, Brazil. I spent 2019 working in the world’s oldest rainforest in Cairns, Queensland.

From May 2014 I regarded Bondi Beach, Sydney as my ‘home’. Adventures and work took me away a few times but I kept finding a path back to my beachside lifestyle.

During Covid-times of May 2020 – December 2021 I worked remotely from Bondi, Wales UK, Spain & Ireland. Most recently I spent two months in New York – back in an office environment, on a secondment. Since January 2022 I (finally) moved back home to Pembrokeshire, West Wales in the UK.

I love to write and hope the content I share on Larasstory is positive & helpful.

11 Fast Facts

#1 I used to be a show jumper. Horses were my life! I only sold my ‘unicorn’, Malcolm, to go travelling – he is a Grade A Irish Sports Horse. Mally didn’t mind me going away – he has lived like a King with Jade ever since! You can follow his adventures on Instagram @jchsporthorses

#2 On April 15th 1998 (when I was 12!) I was lucky enough to buy a little ginger ball of fire called Holly. I named her I’m A Firestarter due to the colour of her and the fact it was my fave song at the time!. She was my best mate, we won everything! Holly went on to jump on the Welsh team. I sent money home to Wales every month for my friend Emily, who (amazingly!) looked after her for the last 13 years. Holly is a love of my life. … Holly was with us until May 2022. She went aged 32.

#3 I proudly hold two degrees.
2:1 Bachelors Degree in English Literature. I also have a Masters Degree in English Literature, I specialised in William Shakespeare. I studied for four years at Cardiff University.

#4 I hustled hard and worked for six years in London for the biggest publishing brands in the world.

#5 The Sun, The News of the World, The Times, The Daily Express, Horse & Hound, Nuts magazine, Loaded magazine, Decanter magazine and LOOK magazine are just a few of the brands I was lucky enough to learn my craft with.

#6 I was the Marketing Executive at LOOK magazine, Britain’s Best Selling Fashion Weekly, for four years. I won ‘Marketing Executive of the Year’ during this exhilarating time in my career.

#7 ‘After London’ age 28, I solo travelled and worked in Asia, Australia, Brazil and New Zealand during 2014 – 2016.

#8 I flew back to Sydney in February 2016 to lay down my roots and secure my Permanent Residency visa. When Covid hit I left Australia about 8 weeks into the world changing. It was never my plan to come home to the UK but via Spain and New York across 2020 & 2021 – I eventually moved home to Pembrokeshire, West Wales in January 2022.

#9 I love dogs, horses, beach life, travel, cups of tea and working out (especially running!).

#10 I am a marketing, content & growth expert with 16+ years marketing global brands. See more on my colourful work history and career achievements on LinkedIn.

#11 In June 2022 I left the corporate working world to set up solo as a Marketing Consultant. I offer FREE 1 hour meetings – book yours here.
