Hitting my 10th bungy jump in 10 years (and reminding myself I only live once!) 🙌

Today I did my first “Backwards split deck” bungy jump at work; AJ Hackett Cairns.

Other places I’ve jumped around the world (over the last 10 years 🤪) include;

2009; Taupo, New Zealand’s highest water touch (twice). 47m above the Waikato River.

2015; The almighty Nevis, Queenstown, New Zealand (twice). 134m, it’s the third highest bungy in the whole wide world!

This was my 4th since starting my new job and what a way to hit those double-digits with a double jump 🙌

Our site, AJ Hackett Cairns is proudly Australia’s only bungy jump! Set 50m above the World’s oldest rainforest with views of the Great Barrier Reef it’s a pretty special place to call “my office” ☺️

Welcome to my actual office …

I don’t tend to have many fears when it comes to extreme sports; I just wanna get going and feel the rush – today however I most definitely had a fleeting feeling of fear;

Would we hit each other on route?

We actually did bump into each other on our third bounce (but it wasn’t our heads so we were fine!) … it’s a very odd feeling flying about in the air looking for your friend.

Once the jump-buzz partially subsides you have a new fear to contend with “Where’s my friend? I don’t wanna hurt my friend!” … you have no idea whether you are up / down / what angle you’re flapping about in so you just need to keep bouncing and hope for the best 🤪

This week I’ve been thinking “I need to go up for a jump” but it’s so easy to get lost in the office!

What with all the crazy downpours of “the worst wet season since 1975” it’s also worth getting the timing right so you don’t get totally soaked on the way down ☔️

One of the team offered me to go up today and I’m so grateful she did – jumping reminded me of a few things;

We only live once (at least that’s all we know for sure right now anyway!;)

Fear is good – some fears really are there to be enjoyed.

Bungy jumping is legit one of the best things you can ever do for your frame of mind – it clears the cobwebs like nothing else can!

I have a renewed will to want to jump more regularly now so watch this space for more to come!We have 16 different jump styles to choose from (and the crew is always making up new shit to try!) so I’ll be keen to push myself to new limits.

If you ever get the chance to do a jump / swing anywhere in the world please do! You are guaranteed to have one of the best experiences of your entire life 🤙

Thank you for reading, have a great week ahead!
