I am writing this to keep things clear as I search for a new job in Sydney. I recently took a position that I was very excited about.
I blogged about it, told all my friends and family around the globe, discussed it on my Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages – for me not to address the fact it didn’t work out would be odd. I couldn’t just ‘pretend it didn’t happen’.
I am an honest person who shares the ups and downs of life online in a bid to both record my story to look back on one day and to help others know that life isn’t always ‘the best’ – we’re all human after all.
Without going into detail or speaking negatively about the company – I must stress we have not left on bad terms – I will just say it became clear that sponsorship would not be an option.
As my visa expires in Feb 2017 I cannot afford to waste any time in a position that cannot offer me security. So after 3 weeks I left.
As my uncle always says ”Worse things have happened at sea” .. it’s not the end of the world by any means. I am taking it as a blessing in disguise and hoping I will find the right job with my next step.
I am looking for a marketing/ events led role in Sydney, ideally a mid-level position where I can use my years of experience and fit comfortably into the team from the get-go.
I want to be part of team where I can make a positive difference, one that hopefully will benefit from my bright attitude and marketing/ events / digital skill set. So for now I will keep my head down and keep applying, with any luck I will find something that works out for the long haul.
It’s not always the easiest thing securing a sponsor in Australia, but I believe you always end up where you are meant to be in the end …
I feel I am meant to carve my life out in Sydney and will keep knocking on enough doors until the right one opens.
